Rumor formalization. Konami has confirmed that indeed closed its studio based in Los Angeles who handled include Metal Gear Online
If we announced yesterday as an already almost certain rumor, closing the studio Konami Los Angeles has now been formalized by Konami. Originally, the structure was called Kojima Productions Los Angeles, before being renamed following the unfortunate events surrounding the Japanese Hideo Kojima and editor. The studio was in charge of Metal Gear Online 3 already comes Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain on consoles and should land in principle in January 2016 on PC. Proponents of online mode of MGS will probably have many concerns, but Konami has tried to reassure the populace with a very terse statement announcing the passage closure of Kojima Productions Los Angeles (or Konami Los Angeles choice … anyway c is closed now):
“Konami has decided to close its Los Angeles studio, effective immediately. This decision is due to the restructuring of product development resources in a more centralized unit. This structure has contributed to the recent Metal Gear Solid games. Konami will continue its support operations at all Metal Gear Solid titles, including the newest MGS 5: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Online. Metal Gear Online is always due for release on PC / Steam in January 2016 ”
As you can see, Konami folds in on itself and just closed a development studio based out of his land (which had been the foundation created under the name of Hideo Kojima, which does not help). We have a thought for developers who have spent out MGO (with some delay it’s true) and that ultimately can not keep track. It remains to hope that Konami keeps his word by providing support for MGO, we particularly think of the servers that you want do not see anytime soon closed. Fingers crossed!
